After Oxbow Bend, we ventured onward toward Yellowstone. We made a stop at Colter Bay village just north-west of Oxbow Bend to get a breather and a bathroom break. We wandered around the trail that surrounds the small loch attached to the village and re-grouped about an hour later. We all kind-of did our own thing during that time, since it was a tourist hotspot, there was little to no worry of getting lost or wildlife interference.
I wandered around the loch, relaxing. It was nice to have some time to myself for the first time (and only time) during the trip. It was mid-day, light was harsh, but it was truly a beautiful time. Not long before I headed back to the parking lot to re-group, I stopped and looked west toward the area I highlighted in the image. This, much like #18, was an image that I feel could have been better suited for different light, likely that superb alpine glow we got earlier in the day.
I originally had this image in black and white. Both color and white proved to have not much difference in feeling, and overall I just wasn’t feeling this image. I think I just wanted to have at least one image from Colter Bay, even if it weren’t one that I cared for.
