Title: Nothing is Interesting and Everything is Normal
Submission start: September 13
Submission deadline: October 11 (late entries accepted until October 15)
Accepted artists announced: October 26
Publication date: TBA
Curator: Jeff Smudde, Sad Bird Books
What is it about the ordinary that seems to catch the eye of artists? Is it the act of placing a frame around the ordinary, putting it on a figurative pedestal, that elevates it to the extraordinary? Or is it that the ordinary is often overlooked, disregarded and cast behind what is typically seen as “beautiful”?
There is no specific style, genre or subject in which this is looking for; the ordinary can be defined how you see fit. This will be published as a zine through Sad Bird Books with Blurb, curated, edited and designed by Jeff Smudde. Sad Bird Books and Jeff Smudde will not profit from any sales of the zine.
Each participant can submit up to five images, but no more than three will be accepted per participant. You may submit only one image if you see fit.
Upon the completion of the zine, participants will be sent a link to gain early-access to the printed copy two weeks before official publication. Email Jeff Smudde with any questions regarding the call for entry.
