White Noise

This series is made while in a vehicle travelling around the United States. The nature of taking photos through a moving vehicle results in unexpected qualities: a crooked horizon line, motion blur, the smearing of light, the surprising subject in-focus. The window’s barrier between the interior of the car and the fleeting moments in the space beyond becomes a mediator in these pictures. At times, the blur of time enters the frame and others feel as still as a planted tripod. The white noise of travel begins to fly past the viewer’s eye. These moments, peripheral in our vision, can feel so potent as if timeless, others are lush with the blur of the rapid acceleration of the car or train.
